Thank you all for your contribution to the Northern United Hockey Club Inc. in what is likely the most challenging year in your lifetime regarding sport, work, health and family.
Congratulations to teams and individuals who achieved championships, representative honours, Club honours and promotion to higher playing grades.
The Executive and support members, coaches, managers, umpires and officers, have done a good job on your behalf in reacting to changing circumstances then getting everything organised to commence a 2020 season which I am sure you all enjoyed.
We really need more assistance from Club members to achieve our goals and also undertake routine administration tasks effectively. We need lots of ideas, networking, shared skills and experience to grow the Club, entice new members, inspire current members, welcome back past members, and be the Club of Choice in Wellington.
Club – an organisation of people with a common purpose or interest, who meet regularly and take part in shared activities:
Who do you know that?:
Could be a minor or major sponsor.
Is transferring to Wellington.
Was lost to the sport of hockey.
May coach or umpire but needs some training.
Has retired from playing a sport.
Has children looking for a sport.
If you can spare 1-2 hours a week, fortnight, month or season many people can benefit from your time and talents by enriching the Club and wider hockey community.
For example:
Umpire a junior, secondary or open grade match.
Sit on the Executive Committee.
Coach or Manage a team.
Coach a junior or secondary team.
Run a skills session for another team.
Help with a social event.
Form a pre-season fitness group.
Operate the Club database, Facebook and internet for our webpage and design new communications.
Attend the AGM and share your views.
Please contact me or another officer of the Club to have a chat about a role you can assist with or to find out more about the Club, its history, culture, successes, and notable players.
I look forward to meeting many more of you in 2021 in an Covid free environment.
